Auditioning away!
I’ve been hopping on all the auditions I can in my broadcast quality studio and it’s been so much good practice and fun. The process of finding one that fits my range and seeing a bit of the script is so thrilling. Even an e-learning script or a corporate narration will have an impact on someone that hears it, so it needs to be well thought out.
I’ll browse the specs and cold read the script a few times, then it’s off to Adobe Audition to record. Working with the mic, I envision who I’m talking to and getting my message across to them. Then it’s time to normalize and listen back, edit out the mistakes (especially when a wild word shows up!) and export. Back to the job posting, take a moment to craft the perfect cover letter (making sure I include the casting agent/clients name!) and a resume and send it out. I usually make a little wish to the Universe, then onto the next!
Every audition is a chance to be included in a project. Such an exciting thought! I take care in giving a great read, and hope you’ll consider me for your next voiceover! What is something you look for in an audition? Comment below!
